Second Curb Appeal Contest Information

Posted on January 24, 2016 by Donald Ijams
Hello Neighbors,

Peter Howell Neighborhood Association is hosting its Second Annual Curb Appeal Contest and we want to give you the criteria that will be used to select the winners: Each property will be evaluated on a weighted scale, with a range of 0-100 points per property on the following in order of importance.

  • Curb Appeal: Initial visual appeal – the WOW of the property. This should be sustained over time, so that when the home is viewed at different times the impact is sustained. (For example, if there is a small window when wildflowers are in bloom, that should not be the SOLE reason for granting points for the property.)
  • Maintenance and neatness: No obvious clutter, weeds, visible damage or need for repair. No debris or unsightly elements.
  • Design and landscaping: Appealing design elements, use of native plants, coherent design. Pleasing appearance.
  • Unique artistic feature: Use of attractive or whimsical gates, walls, mailboxes, sculpture, water features or artwork that adds to the visual appeal of the property.

Everybody in the neighborhood is invited to participate. Get ready! You have time to beautify your home’s curb appeal and win.

We will select a total of 8 winners (PHNA/photo release required to participate) with special recognition and prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Carter Photography will again photograph all the winners to be displayed at the Tucson Botanical Gardens from April 4 – May 4 with prints being given to each winner after the show.

Submission period will be from February 1 – 28, 2016

Judging period will start March 5 with a final judging on March 28. Awards and finale will be April 2 at 3:30 pm at Alvernon Park.

Please submit contact name and address by emailing: PHNA@gmail.com or mailing to: 4026 E 4th St, Tucson, AZ 85711.  For more information or questions – contact Patty Martin.
