Our School, Peter Howell Elementary, was built in 1952.
We are a proud part of the Tucson Unified School District where students love to learn, teachers love to teach, and people love to work!
Our school provides high quality educational experiences for all students who call Peter Howell their School! We have approximately 325 students in preschool to grade 5 for the 2019-2020 school year. Students come from the surrounding neighborhood, as well as from our extended neighborhood which is located near Campbell Avenue and 34th Street. We also accept Open Enrollment students. We are proud to be recognized as a Kind Campus through Ben’s Bells.

We strive to meet our students’ individual needs, not only academically, but also socially and emotionally. We are a GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) Cluster School. What makes us unique is that all of our teachers have chosen to become GATE endorsed, therefore opening up further academic opportunities for all of our students.
We are an OMA (Opening Minds through the Arts) GOLD School which focuses on music and art integrated instruction. We also offer Exceptional Education, a full-time Community Liaison, a full-time Counselor, a part-time Reading Interventionist, a part-time Math Interventionist, Project Shine after school program, after school tutoring, Math Club, Student Council, cross country, basketball, track, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Milers Club, Girls on the Run, a gardening program through our School Health Advisory Committee, Reading Seed, and Restorative Practices.
Our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is active with several exciting events throughout the year. We also have partnerships with many organizations that provide tutoring and mentoring to our students, such as Reading Seed and the Peter Howell Neighborhood Association. Keep a lookout for all the activities all year long!
We always love to have visitors and invite you to stop by to see the great things happening at Peter Howell.
We look forward to your visit!
