Petition for Referendum: Need 8500 Valid Signatures!
University area neighborhoods are seeking support for reconsideration/repeal of a recent Tucson Mayor & Council ordinance dealing with development of an area just west of the University. A petition is being circulated that must be completed by the end of March with more than 8500 valid signatures of registered voters. The wording of the petition is as follows: ————————- CITY OF TUCSON – PETITION FOR REFERENDUM OPTIONAL URBAN OVERLAY DISTRICT, 10968 MAIN GATE DISTRICT To the Honorable Mayor and Council, and the City Clerk of the City of Tucson, State of Arizona: We, the undersigned, residents of the City of Tucson, Arizona, and duly qualified electors therein, respectfully protest the passage, by the Mayor and Council of the City of Tucson at a meeting held on February 28, 2012, of the entire Ordinance No. 10968, set forth below, and petition that this ordinance be reconsidered by the Mayor and Council and, if not repealed at the time of such reconsideration, be referred to a vote of the qualified electors of the City of Tucson, Arizona, for their approval or rejection.
